Pacifiers

Babies usually love to suck, since that is how they feed and soothe themselves. As your child grows older, this need will fade. If it doesn’t, a pacifier is preferable to thumb-sucking.
Why?
It is easier to control when your child does it. Also, to prevent cavities, never put sugar, honey or corn syrup on a pacifier. It is best for children to give up the pacifier BEFORE age 2. If your child keeps sucking a thumb or a pacifier AFTER their permanent teeth have developed, problems with jaw growth and tooth position may eventually develop.
