Endodontics

Endodontic treatment is what is commonly called a root canal. It is used to treat an infection in the dental pulp, the soft tissue beneath the hard part of the tooth. The pulp contains the nerves and blood vessels the tooth needs while it grows, but once the tooth has fully come in, the pulp can be removed without further harming the infected tooth.
Why have a root canal?
- To treat the infection
- To relieve pain
- To avoid extracting one or more teeth
Of course, a variety of techniques are now available to keep any discomfort to a minimum during a root canal. If you have an acute infection, you will be given an antibiotic and/or a painkiller to relieve the pain.
If you would like to know more about root canal treatment, the staff at Clinique dentaire Bossé Marois are always available to answer your questions.
