Periodontics

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry devoted to treating the periodontium, the tissues that support the tooth (gums, cementum, alveolar bone and periodontal ligaments). Periodontal diseases are caused by bacterial and parasitic infections. To prevent, detect and treat them, it is important to come to your routine checkups as often as your dentist recommends. If neglected, simple gingivitis can turn into periodontitis, which can seriously infect one or more teeth, in extreme cases to the point where they must be extracted. That is why Clinique dentaire Bossé Marois puts great emphasis on prevention and on starting a treatment plan early.
If you notice inflammation of your gums or bleeding when you brush, you may have gingivitis. Your dentist can guide you to the treatment suited to your needs and help you avoid later complications.
